Pumpkin Patch
Last week our front lawn was transformed into a Pumpkin Patch! 🎃 Members were invited to pick our pumpkin for a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association! 💜 We had a pumpkin painting station and some sweet treats during the beautiful fall day here in Connecticut. We raised $300 from this event! As a reminder, we will be continuing this fundraiser through the end of October with our Pumpkin Grams – check out the post on our page from earlier this week to learn more! 🍁
Halloween
Wishing all of our followers a very Happy Halloween! Our Members and staff enjoyed getting dressed up in costumes and showing them off as we paraded throughout our community! There were so many smiles and laughs! Check out these fun photos! 🎃
Piano Concert
Our Members recently enjoyed a performance from Yale School of Music student and pianist, Anthony Ratinov. 🎶 He performed an incredible program of Bach and Schubert! We had a full-socially-distanced-house for this concert and our Members enjoyed having accomplished musicians perform just steps from their front door!! We are so grateful to partner with Yale for these concerts! 🎹
Archery
Archery is one of our most unique programs at Evergreen Woods. 🏹 Our team works with our Members as they’ve become comfortable holding the bow, putting an arrow on at the nocking point, and perfecting stance and shooting precision. It’s an awesome sport as it helps to build confidence quickly, creating a sense of accomplishment and building self-esteem. Additionally, it has awesome wellness benefits! Archery helps our Members improve their focus, patience, posture, and assists with walking as well as arm strength! Who would have thought it had so many incredible benefits! 🏹
Apple Picking
One of the best part events of Autumn is spending time outdoors apple picking! 🍎🍏 We had an early morning with the Evergreen Woods Explorers visiting Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market and snagging apples to take home with us! We are looking forward to delicious pies and apple goodies! 🥧
Birds of Prey
Did you know that the fastest bird in the world is the Peregrine Falcon? It has been measured at speeds above 186mph! WOW!! To learn about the incredible birds of prey who call our area home, we welcomed A Place Called Hope to Evergreen Woods! 🦉 Their presentation was enlightening and provided our Members so much insight into the birds in their care and how their organization is protecting these incredible birds of prey! 🦅
Hiking
There’s nothing like spending some time with the girls enjoying the great outdoors! 🍁 Our ladies recently enjoyed an afternoon hike at North Farms Park taking in the foliage, fresh air, and a great group of friends! 😎
Rail Bike
We concluded a wonderful Active Aging Week 2020 with an amazing Rail Bike excursion along the beautiful Connecticut River! 🚲 This was such a fun day with beautiful scenery and perfect fall weather! Cheers to living The Weller Life at Evergreen Woods! 🍁
Classic Car Show
Our Classic Car Show in late-September was a BLAST! 🚗🚙 We welcomed over 60 classic vehicles for our Members, their families, and our staff to enjoy as a part of our Alzheimer’s Association Fundraiser! 💜 Make sure to check out this fun article of the event by our local partner, The Shoreline Times! read article
