Newport Mansions Tour
On October 19th, Members from Evergreen Woods ventured to Newport, Rhode Island to tour the famous Newport Mansions and visit the International Tennis Hall of Fame! Attendees had a fantastic time exploring two houses: The Breakers, and Marble House! They are breathtaking structures built by the wealthy Vanderbilt Family. After the tour, the group stopped by a local café for lunch before heading over to view the International Tennis Hall of Fame!
Nifty Fifties Signature Experience Day (Whiffle Ball Game)
In August of 2021, Evergreen Woods hosted a Signature Experience themed around The 1950s! It was kicked off with a Hula Hoop Contest and Exercise Class! Members and Team Members had a great time showing off their skills! Later in the day, 14 players took part in a ‘baseball-inspired’ Wiffle Ball Game! Attendees were also able to read up on the 1950s baseball facts posted around the game. Everyone cheered on the participants and enjoyed fresh hot dogs, popcorn, and all of their favorite stadium snacks/drinks! Later in the day, the Club Room transformed into the Evergreen Woods Soda Shoppe! It had a Penny Candy Bar and served Root Beer Floats while attendees purchased tickets for a raffle benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. The Senior Prom Alzheimer’s Gala was the best part of the day. The Prom closed out the day and raised a total of $1,200 for the Alzheimer’s Association! Prom-goers loved dancing to a 50’s band and enjoyed a delicious meal prepared by the Dining Team. Local businesses generously sponsored the event and donated various prizes to the raffle. Team Members also donated items to the raffle and purchased tickets! As the prom settled down, the programming team welcomed everyone to a “Drive-In Movie” on the Front Lawn to unwind.
Autumn Spectacular Pumpkin Patch Happy Hour
In late September 2021, Members participated in their Signature Experience, a day of food, fitness, and fun with an ‘Autumn Spectacular’! The day kicked off the day with a trip to one of their favorite local spots, Bishop’s Orchards Farm Market! Attendees had a great time wandering through their vast orchard, trying out all of their delicious treats, and of course, picking apples! While back at Evergreen Woods, Members enjoyed coming outside to meet an alpaca, donkey, baby goats, baby sheep, and bunnies. After everyone visited with these furry friends, they picked up a delicious treat from the Caramel Apple Stand. As the evening drew near, attendees made their way to the outdoor Pumpkin Patch Happy Hour in the Courtyard. Members stayed warm at this cozy happy hour with heaters, blankets, and bistro lighting! To end the Signature Experience, there was a Harvest Moon Dining Experience in the Dining Room. The cranberry-colored décor, dried flower centerpieces with pumpkins, and fairy lighting on each centerpiece set the atmosphere for a fall evening. The dining room was filled with so much laughter and friendship as there were 96 reservations for this event! The menu was prepared special for this event by the Evergreen Woods Dining Team and it was exquisite! Guests enjoyed a menu which included: Butternut Squash & Apple Soup, Harvest Salad, choice of Pork Roast w/ Butternut Compote or Pumpkin Ravioli with Sauteed Shredded Brussel Sprouts, Maple Glazed Carrots, Autumn Rice, and Fingerling Potatoes finished with Sweet Potato Maple Cheesecake and our White Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate!
Dining in White
In October, the Evergreen Woods Dining and Social Departments teamed up for a new and exclusive event – Dining in White! This dining event welcomed Members to an incredible 8-course meal, followed by 4 desserts. The dinner was an immersive 2-hour experience, with white-glove service and a menu of white-colored foods and flavors curated by a talented culinary team. The décor enveloped guests as tables and seating were accentuated with white linen and drapery. Dinner guests matched the theme perfectly, dressing in white attire. Attendees enjoyed tableside wine service along with course descriptions by one of our Chefs!
Garden Party and Resident Gardens Tour
At Evergreen Woods, Members have a wide variety of clubs and organizations to participate in. One of them is the Grounds Committee, as a subsidiary of our Resident Advisory Council. In June, the Grounds Committee hosted a Garden Party to show off the incredible work Members have accomplished on their individual garden plots. It was a lovely afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, quiche, various desserts, and of course – garden tours!
